Colours of Australia (Uniquely Creative)

Hi everyone! Welcome back and a happy 2021 to you!

It's been a crazy year and I'm so thankful you've all come and viewed my blog from time to time. I had a good year and I'm so grateful for the opportunities I have to create and craft.

I've just had a long holiday break up north in Ningaloo with my boyfriend and his family. Ningaloo is a reef just off the coast of Western Australia, it takes about 14hrs to drive there from my home. We camped on sand in tents, and swam in the ocean every day, I learned to snorkel and had so many new experiences.

In honour of my holiday, I thought it applicable to post this card! If you've never had a chance to visit Australia's bush and native areas and see all the gorgeous colours and sounds we have, I hope this card will at least bring a it to life a little bit for you!

I absolutely love having some Australian-themed products to play with, and Uniquely Creative ticks all my boxes for quality products, plus shipping only takes a week because they are also based in Australia! If this doesn't sound impressive to you guys, just remember that my usual purchases from America or the UK take about 3 weeks to get to me - and even longer at the moment!

Let's get into how I created this card.

Firstly, I watercoloured two leafy branches with my Nuvo Aqua Flow Pens, focusing on light to dusty greens, and added some reds and brown to bring out the colours.
While those were setting, I took my Ranger Distress ink and blended onto my cardstock background using a Lawn Fawn brickwork stencil. I used various ink colours to get that really textured and varying brick colour (because at least where I live, brick isn't just brown!).

I also used a Nuvo Shimmer paste over the stencil (not evenly) to create that dimension and shimmer on top of the  background.

I made the sentiment using my Dymo Label Maker and adhered everything onto the card base.

This card has a fairly simple message that I hope anyone would be happy to receive.

Have a great week everyone. If you'd like to see more Australian-themed cards in the future, let me know!

Until next time,
Shana xx
