Big Birthday Bash (Technique Tuesday)

Hello everyone, and welcome back to another post.

It's time for another birthday blast at Technique Tuesday -  five days of special deals on birthday related products! To help celebrate, I've put together a number of projects to showcase some of the items on display!

The promotion runs from May 16 to May 20 and you've got a great opportunity to snatch up some sweet deals. Check out all the info here, and keep reading this post to get a discount code!

For this birthday celebration, I've created one card and one tag for each of the sets I used. I plan to use these together - if I give the card, I also use the tag on the present and give that too!

If you'd like to start crafting and want something to boost your shopping trip, use the code HBDAY21 in this birthday bash and enjoy up to 20% off your products! Full information is over at Technique Tuesday.

First, I have this card and tag set using the Many Candles birthday set.

For the card, I stamped the candles onto copic paper (I used X-Press It copic-safe paper, but any brand will do). I then coloured this using Tonic Studios Nuvo Markers and one or two Spectrum Noir markers. I added very light grey shading between the candles to show where the light would be 'thrown' from the flames, but that is a little hard to see on these images.

I then embossed the sentiment onto black paper and cut it out. Everything was layered onto a card base to create a cheerful birthday card.

Next up, I stamped the same candles onto paper and die-cut out the tag using the Essentials Die set.
I then coloured using my alcohol markers again, and carefully hand-coloured the black border around the tag. I stamped the sentiment and adhered the ribbon using thin double-sided tape.

I enjoyed making the double card and tag sets so much, I decided to do the same for this next project!

This project uses the Mandala stamp set which I've wanted to play with for a while.
For the card, I started with blending some Distress Ink (from Ranger) onto a piece of white cardstock; I used Festive Berries, Worn Lipstick and Shaded Lilac.

Next, I stamped the Mandala onto cardstock. A feature of this mandala design is open in the middle so you can swap out sections, or choose to draw your own! Once my design was stamped, I fussy-cut the mandala design out and decided not to add any colour.
Lastly, I embossed the sentiment onto lavender cardstock and cut it out, and then adhered everything to a card base. I choose to leave the Mandala as black and white to contrast with the background.

To compliment the card, I decided to make a very simple tag.

I stamped a small mandala and sentiment from the set, and then die-cut the tag out. I added ink lines using a ruler and a copic liner, added a little bit of colour with my Polychromos pencils in pink and purple, and then added the ribbon again.

I feel that the simple tag helps to compliment the colourful card base, and I really like that.

More photos will be available on my instagram page if you wish to see them in more detail.

I hope that these projects inspire you to create some cheerful birthday cards, or to take advantage of the specials and snag some new stamp sets for yourself - don't forget to use the promo code HBDAY21! And if you find yourself making more tags to compliment your card stash.... you're welcome.

Have a great week everyone,

Until next time,
Shana xx
