Hydrangea colouring with Alcohol Markers (Altenew Paint-A-Flower)

Hello everyone!

Welcome back to another post. Thanks for checking in and reading these blog posts, I like seeing that some people have opened and had a look even though I don't post super frequently.

Just a quick one today where I'll be talking about the Hydrangea Flower from the Paint-A-Flower line produced by Altenew!

We have a number of Hydrangea bushes at the church I attend, and I love seeing them come out and flower every year. It's possible to see and colour this floral in almost any shade, although the most popular colors are pinks, purples and blues-greens. But we all know that as artist having fun, we're all okay with unrealistic colours too!

I love colouring these flowers, and this stamp set from Altenew ticks a lot of boxes to make it a lovely set to get! I love the clean, thin outline with a few extra details, making it super easy to work with.

I decided to colour this stamp with my Tonic Studios Nuvo markers, so I stamped it on copic-safe paper and had some fun. No surprises in the colour choices today, just some lovely pink and aqua tones.

Once the image was coloured, I went ahead and fussy-cut the set out. I do wish that these releases came with die-cuts as there's a lot more you can do with them, but I don't mind fussy-cutting every now and again. It's just a little stressful as you don't want to mess up the hard work you've taken to colour by accidentally cutting something!

To add a sentiment, I took the 'Smile, It's Spring' sentiment from the stamp set and stamped Nuvo's embossing ink onto white cardstock. I then added Lawn Fawn's Rose Gold embossing powder and set that with my heat gun. I chose that sentiment specifically because it was just before September 1st and honestly, I was so eager for spring to roll around just so I can get some warmer weather!

I placed the cardstock onto a card front using foam tape, and then I adhered the Hydrangea to the card using Glue Dots from Columbus Trading, and that was it! Not sure if I'll ever have an actual reason to give this card away (unless I posted it to someone in the Northern Hemisphere when March rolls around?) but that's okay!

That's it for today - a fairly clean and simple card. I hope you have a great week!

Until next time,
Shana xx
